Returns, Refunds & Cancellations Policy
Last updatedSeptember 26, 2026
At Artbusters LLC (“Artbusters,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), we want you to be happy with the artwork you purchase. Because many of our pieces are original, handmade, one-of-a-kind, or created specifically for an individual customer, return, refund, and cancellation eligibility varies depending on the type of artwork purchased.
This policy applies to purchases made directly through Artbusters and should be read together with our Terms & Conditions, Shipping & Delivery Policy, and Custom Art & Commission Terms.
1Returns of In-Stock Artwork
Unless an item is identified as final sale, custom, personalized, or otherwise non-returnable, you may request a return of eligible in-stock artwork within 14 calendar days of delivery.
To request a return, please contact Artbusters within the 14-day return period and provide your order information and reason for the return.
Artwork must be returned:
- In its original condition
- Without damage, alteration, staining, or other deterioration
- With any certificates, documentation, or accessories originally included
- In the original packaging whenever reasonably possible
- Properly packaged to protect it during return transportation
Please do not ship a return until you have contacted Artbusters and received return instructions.
Artbusters reserves the right to decline a return or reduce a refund where permitted by applicable law if an artwork is returned damaged, altered, incomplete, or in a condition materially different from the condition in which it was delivered.
2Return Shipping Costs
Unless the artwork arrived damaged, defective, incorrect, or Artbusters agrees otherwise in writing, the customer is responsible for the cost of returning eligible artwork.
Original artwork can be fragile and valuable. Customers should use appropriate protective packaging and a trackable shipping service when returning artwork.
For higher-value artwork, shipping insurance may be recommended.
Artbusters is not responsible for damage or loss caused during a customer-arranged return shipment except to the extent required by applicable law.
Original outbound shipping charges are generally non-refundable unless the return results from an error by Artbusters, shipping damage, or applicable law requires otherwise.
3Refunds for Eligible Returns
Once returned artwork is received, we will inspect it to confirm that it meets the applicable return requirements.
If the return is approved, Artbusters will initiate a refund of the eligible purchase amount using the original payment method or through the applicable payment processor.
Because Artbusters currently uses PayPal for online payments, eligible refunds for PayPal transactions will generally be processed through PayPal.
Please allow additional time for PayPal, your bank, card issuer, or other financial institution to post the refund to your account.
Shipping, handling, customs charges, duties, taxes, and other transaction-related charges may not be refundable except where required by applicable law or where the return resulted from an Artbusters error.
4Custom, Commissioned & Personalized Artwork
Because custom, commissioned, and personalized artwork is created specifically for an individual customer, custom artwork is generally not eligible for return, exchange, or refund once work has begun, except where required by applicable law or where the finished artwork is materially inconsistent with the agreed commission specifications.
Custom artwork may include, but is not limited to:
- Commissioned portraits
- Artwork created from customer-provided photographs or reference images
- Personalized artwork
- Customer-requested sizes
- Artwork created with specifically requested colors, subjects, styles, mediums, or materials
- Artwork modified specifically for a customer
- Other made-to-order pieces
- Review Before Completion
As a custom artwork approaches completion, Artbusters may provide the customer with a photograph of the artwork for review before it is finalized and prepared for shipment.
At this stage, the customer may request reasonable minor adjustments, where such changes are practical and consistent with the original agreed commission.
Requests for substantial changes—including significant changes to the subject, composition, pose, background, colors, dimensions, medium, style, or other previously agreed elements—may require additional fees and may extend the completion timeline. Certain changes may not be reasonably possible once the artwork has reached an advanced stage because of the materials, artistic technique, drying or curing requirements, or work already completed.
Once the customer approves the artwork and any agreed adjustments have been completed, the artwork will be finalized and prepared for shipment. After approval and completion, custom artwork is generally considered final and is not eligible for return, exchange, or refund based on a change of mind, subject to shipping damage, an error by Artbusters, or rights provided by applicable law.
Photographs provided for review are intended to reasonably represent the artwork. The appearance of colors, textures, details, and finishes may vary somewhat in person because of lighting, photography, screen settings, and the physical characteristics of the artwork.
Artistic Interpretation
Custom artwork is an original artistic creation. Variations resulting from the artist's individual style, interpretation, brushwork, palette knife techniques, texture, color blending, composition, materials, and other artistic characteristics are part of the creative process and are not necessarily defects.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, custom artwork should be understood as an artistic interpretation of the customer's reference materials and specifications rather than an exact photographic reproduction.
Additional requirements concerning deposits, payments, reference materials, revisions, approvals, cancellations, completion timelines, and commissioned artwork are provided in our Custom Art & Commission Terms.
5Cancellation of In-Stock Orders
If you wish to cancel an order for in-stock artwork, please contact Artbusters as soon as possible after placing the order.
If the order has not yet been shipped, we will make reasonable efforts to cancel it and issue an applicable refund.
Once an order has been shipped, it generally cannot be canceled. If the artwork is eligible for return, you may request a return after receiving it in accordance with this policy.
Please do not refuse delivery as a substitute for requesting a return unless instructed to do so by Artbusters.
6Cancellation of Custom Art Orders
Custom artwork requires planning, artist time, materials, and potentially work that cannot reasonably be resold to another customer.
For that reason, cancellation eligibility depends on how far the commission has progressed.
If you request cancellation before work on the artwork has begun, Artbusters may cancel the commission and refund amounts paid, less any non-refundable deposit, specially purchased materials, design or preparation work, or other costs that were clearly agreed to before the commission.
Once work on a custom or commissioned artwork has begun, payments made toward work already performed and committed costs may be non-refundable.
Once a custom artwork has been substantially completed or completed, the order generally cannot be canceled or refunded simply because the customer changes their mind.
The specific payment, deposit, cancellation, and refund terms applicable to commissions are described in our Custom Art & Commission Terms and may also be included in the customer's quotation, invoice, or written commission agreement.
7Changes to Custom Art Orders
If you request changes to a commission after work has begun, Artbusters will determine whether the requested changes are reasonably possible.
Changes that materially alter the original commission—including changes to dimensions, number of subjects, composition, medium, background, colors, or other significant elements—may:
- Increase the price
- Extend the completion timeline
- Require additional materials
- Require additional payment before work continues
Artbusters will communicate any significant additional charges before proceeding with material changes whenever reasonably possible.
Revision limits and approval procedures may be further addressed in our Custom Art & Commission Terms.
8Damaged Artwork
If your artwork arrives damaged during shipping, please contact Artbusters within 48–72 hours of delivery whenever reasonably possible.
Please retain the artwork and all original packaging, including the shipping box, protective materials, labels, and documentation.
We may request photographs showing:
- The complete artwork
- The damaged portion of the artwork
- The exterior packaging
- Any visible damage to the shipping container
- The interior packaging
- The shipping label
Please do not discard the artwork or packaging until Artbusters confirms that it is no longer needed.
Depending on the circumstances and availability of the artwork, an appropriate resolution may include repair, replacement where reasonably possible, refund, or another mutually agreed solution.
Because many Artbusters works are original or one-of-a-kind, an identical replacement may not always be possible.
The 48–72-hour reporting request helps us investigate shipping damage and pursue carrier claims and does not limit rights that cannot legally be limited under applicable law.
9Incorrect Artwork
If you receive artwork different from what you ordered, please contact Artbusters promptly.
We may request photographs or other information necessary to verify the issue.
If Artbusters confirms that an incorrect item was shipped, we will work with you to arrange an appropriate resolution, which may include return shipping at our expense, delivery of the correct artwork where available, or an applicable refund.
10Natural Characteristics of Original Artwork
Original and handmade artwork may contain characteristics resulting from the artist's materials, techniques, and creative process.
Variations in:
- Texture
- Brushstrokes
- Palette knife marks
- Surface appearance
- Color blending
- Thickness of paint or medium
- Handmade details
- Minor dimensional differences
may be normal characteristics of original artwork and are not necessarily defects.
Additionally, colors displayed on computer monitors, phones, tablets, and other screens can vary from the appearance of the physical artwork because of photography, lighting, screen calibration, and display settings.
A reasonable difference between the digital representation and physical appearance of an artwork does not, by itself, mean that the artwork is defective.
11Sale, Clearance & Final-Sale Items
Certain artwork may occasionally be identified as Final Sale or otherwise expressly designated as non-returnable before purchase.
Items clearly identified as Final Sale are not eligible for return or exchange because of a change of mind, except where the item arrives damaged, is materially different from what was ordered, or applicable law provides otherwise.
A discounted price alone does not make an item Final Sale unless Artbusters identifies it as such.
12Exchanges
Because many Artbusters pieces are original or one-of-a-kind, traditional exchanges may not always be possible.
If you would like to exchange an eligible in-stock artwork, please contact us. Where appropriate, we may arrange a return of the original artwork and a separate purchase of another available piece.
Any difference in artwork price and applicable shipping charges will be the customer's responsibility unless otherwise agreed.
Custom and personalized artwork is generally not eligible for exchange.
13International Returns
Customers outside the United States should contact Artbusters before returning any artwork.
Unless the return results from an Artbusters error, shipping damage, or applicable law requires otherwise, customers are generally responsible for international return shipping costs and any associated customs, brokerage, tax, or handling charges.
Original customs duties, import taxes, VAT, brokerage fees, or similar charges paid directly to government authorities or third parties may not be refundable by Artbusters.
14Chargebacks & Payment Disputes
If you believe there is a problem with an Artbusters transaction, please contact us so that we have an opportunity to review and resolve the issue.
Nothing in this policy prevents a customer from exercising legitimate rights available through PayPal, a payment provider, financial institution, or applicable law.
Fraudulent or knowingly false payment disputes may be contested using relevant order, payment, shipping, delivery, and customer communication records.
15Refund Processing
Approved refunds will generally be issued through the payment method used for the original transaction.
Artbusters will initiate approved refunds within a reasonable period after the applicable return has been received and inspected or after we otherwise determine that a refund is appropriate.
The time required for the refund to appear in your account after it is issued is controlled by PayPal, your bank, card issuer, or other applicable financial institution.
16Non-Waivable Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Returns, Refunds & Cancellations Policy is intended to exclude, restrict, or waive consumer rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded, restricted, or waived under applicable law.
